It was our last day and we had a gentle 6-hour drive up to Saratoga with a stop in New Jersey. I was picking up my bandmate Jonah and, on the way, we would be trying what he claimed to the best pizza ever at Star Tavern (spoiler alert, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had). We also ended up picking up our friend Rinzin who was in NYC. This drive was pretty fun however what was annoying was the sheer number of tolls we had to pay on this road. It was the most we have ever paid since across the other 10 states we hardly paid any and ironically, they were in better condition. Nevertheless, we sped north and sadly back into the eternal “winter wonderland” that was Saratoga.
The drive allowed us to reflect upon the past week and it was probably one of the best trips I’ve ever taken in my life. I got to see parts of America I’d never thought I’d see, my appreciation for American beers exponentially increased and I grow much closer to my international friends. Doing an American road trip is probably the best way to see this weird and wild country. If I had to do this trip again I would not have changed a single thing.
